Old-Fashioned Political Rally
Attend the Old-Fashioned Political Rally, a biennial event held by the Larimer County League of Women Voters, the Loveland Chamber of Commerce and the Loveland Daily Reporter-Herald.
This year the Old-Fashioned Political Rally, celebrating 42 years, will be on Thursday, Oct. 11, from 5:30 p.m. to about 9:00 p.m. The rally will be held in the First National Bank West Exposition Hall, at the Larimer County Fairgrounds just north of Loveland, off U.S. Highway 1-25.
The rally keeps alive the tradition of citizens meeting politicians to ask questions and discuss issues. National, state and local candidates will be on hand; each will have a booth to distribute literature and to speak directly with voters. Proponents and opponents of state and local ballot issues will also have booths with information on the various proposals, and voting information and maps will be available. The League of Women Voters will offer general voter information. Note that this is not a debate; however, each candidate will be scheduled to make a three to five minute speech, provided he or she appears in person. Rally organizers do not allow substitutes to speak for candidates.
This rally is the premier event of its kind in the state, with turnouts of consistently more than 1,000 people. Red, white and blue decorations, music, free admission, free coffee, free popcorn, free lemonade, and other Ranch concessions at great prices create a festive atmosphere. Families are highly encouraged to attend. Campaign banners, buttons, hand carried signs, speeches and cheers will fill the building with patriotic enthusiasm.
