The purpose of the Board is to see to it that the Loveland Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center is best representing the Chamber investors interest (or share) in the organization. Simply stated, the board is governing on behalf of you, the Chamber investor.

Please know your Chamber board takes this responsibility very seriously and meets on your behalf at least monthly. The Loveland Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center Board meets the fourth Thursday of the month from 4 - 5:30 p.m. at the Ken & Helen Erion Conference Room in the Loveland Chamber of Commerce.

The board also has set bylaws and governing policies guiding them in how they govern. Both the bylaws and governing policies are based on the Carver theories of Policy Governance.

Christine Kapperman is the Chair-Elect for the Loveland Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. She has served the Chamber Board since 2005 and will become the Chair of the Board in 2011. Christine is also the managing editor of the Reporter-Herald, one of Loveland's oldest businesses and longest-running chamber members. She has held several positions at the newspaper in her 15 years with the company including as special sections, features and business editor as well as assistant managing editor. Raised in an entrepreneurial family, she has always worked for family or family-owned companies, including while in high school and college and as she does now. She moved here from Jackson, Wyo., where she worked for the Jackson Hole Guide newspaper.

Marilyn Schock is the 2010 Chair for the Loveland Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. She has been on the Chamber Board since 2007. As the CEO of McKee Medical Center, she oversees a 132-bed nonprofit, acute-care hospital that offers excellence in health care including cancer care, women's services, orthopedics and surgical care.

Marilyn has been employed at Banner Health in various positions since 1986 and more than 23 years of increasing leadership roles in the health care industry. Her most recent positions include Associate Administrator at North Colorado Medical Center and Mckee Medical Center, and Interim CEO for Torrington Community Hospital.

Schock received an Associate of Applied Science from Northwest College from Powell Wyoming in 1982, a BS in Occupational Therapy from Colorado State University in 1985; and an MBA from Colorado State University in 2002. She is currently a Registered Occupational Therapist, a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, and is active in many community programs.

Nathan joined Loveland Commercial in February 2004 as an intern through Colorado State University and became a full-time Broker Associate and Project Manager upon graduation shortly thereafter. Nathan became a partner of Loveland Commercial in June 2006 and has quickly become one of the leading real estate brokers in Northern Colorado. A few of Nathan’s recent brokerage accomplishments include representation of the City of Loveland in the purchase of 90 acres of strategic Interstate Interchange land, representing Colorado vNet in a corporate relocation and consolidation to a 42K s.f. flex/office location in South Loveland, and work with King Soopers to secure a new location for a 123K s.f. Marketplace store in North Ft. Collins. Nathan’s ability to analyze and develop property values, analyze market conditions, and identify market opportunities is exceptional. Nathan is currently working on his Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation.

Nathan graduated Summa Cum Laude from Colorado State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with concentrations in Finance and Real Estate. Nathan’s previous experience includes two and a half years with Bank of Colorado and an internship with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Loveland native Miki Roth is the 2010 Board Secretary for the Loveland Chamber. She has been a Chamber member for five years and a Board member for two years. As a local area expert with knowledge of the communities, Miki has extensive experience with buyers purchasing existing homes, new construction, and relocation to and from the area. Additionally, she is a director on the Loveland/Berthoud Association of Realtors Board and is the community relations chairperson for LBAR this year. Roth is a Leadership Loveland graduate.

Rick Hontz, employed by Global Spectrum, is the General Manager at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland, CO. Global Spectrum is a facility management firm that manages over 95 arenas and convention centers throughout the country. The management company is a subsidiary of Comcast-Spectacor where Hontz began his career. With a degree in Mass Communications and Advertising from Bloomsburg University, Hontz began his career as Marketing Manager in 1996 at the Well Fargo Center in Philadelphia, PA. Here he developed and implemented successful marketing plans for various events including the Philadelphia Flyers and 76ers, managed budgets, solicited sponsorships, managed a marketing team, and had record-breaking grosses for many events. He later was named Director of Marketing for Sun National Bank Center in Trenton, NJ by Global Spectrum in 2000. As Director of Marketing, he orchestrated marketing and public relation campaigns for the new facility. He was responsible for record ticket sales that helped rank the arena #5 in the world by Billboard Magazine. He accepted a promotion to Assistant General Manager at the arena. As a supervisor of eight departments, he worked to establish and attain show budgets, generate additional arena revenue, and negotiate contracts with promoters, vendors, tenants, and agents. Continuing to grow in Global Spectrum, Hontz accepted a position at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland, CO as General Manager in March of 2004. During his tenure at the Loveland arena, he helped lure acts to Northern Colorado such as Rod Stewart, David Bowie, Motley Crue, Disney on Ice, Cirque Du Soleil to name a few. In 2009, Global Spectrum named him a Regional Vice President for the company in which he now oversees other sports and entertainment arenas in multiple states while continuing being the General Manager of the Budweiser Events Center. Hontz is also a member of the IAAM (International Association of Arena Managers).

Jean Mooney served as Chair for the the Loveland Chamber of Commerce in 2008. She has been a Chamber board member since 2006. She has also served on the Northern Colorado Legislative Alliance board from 2000 to 2007. Currently serving as the Director of Human Resources for the Larimer Humane Society, Jean was previously employed by Agilent Technologies (1999-2009) and Hewlett-Packard (1992-1999). Prior to leaving Agilent, Jean was the company's Colorado Public Affairs & Communications Mgr as well as the Global Business Communications Mgr for the Materials Science Solutions business unit. Additional Agilent and Hewlett-Packard positions included PR/Comms Mgr, HR Generalist and Marcom Mgr.

Jean earned her BA in Communications from Texas A&M University. Additionally, she holds HR Generalist Certification from the Society for Human Resource Management and Corporate Community Involvement Certification from Boston College Carroll School of Management.

Steven D. Olson, CPA, has extensive experience in a wide range of leadership, management and advisory positions. In the role of Chief Financial Officer, he provides executives with timely and accurate financial statements, ongoing cash flow projections, oversight over accounting and finance operations, as well as design and maintenance of the financial reporting structures. In addition to his accounting and finance oversight responsibilities, Steven offers broad management, internal control and strategic advice to management. His Total Quality Management experience can greatly accelerated a company’s effort to document business policies and procedures as well as improve manufacturing processes.

His success as an advisor to business is built on a foundation of considerable leadership and management experience obtained while serving in the U.S. Navy. As a Naval Officer, he held a wide array of leadership positions in the health care delivery field. He gained extensive experience in health care budgeting, operations, system design, data base management, financial management and others.

Steven is a member of the American Society for Quality (ASQ) and the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants. He has taught a wide range of business and accounting subjects as an adjunct professor for the University of Phoenix, the Monfort School of Business at the University of Northern Colorado and Front Range Community College in Northern Colorado. His University teaching experience enables him to continually bring added value to his business and financial consulting.

John J. Shaw is founder and general manager for the award winning custom sign manufacturing company, DaVinci Sign Systems Inc. located in Windsor, Co. He is a member of the Loveland, Fort Collins and Denver Chambers of Commerce. Shaw is the 2010 Chair for the Loveland Chamber of Commerce Local Legislative Affairs Committee, and is currently serving on the 2010 Northern Colorado Legislative Alliance Board. Additionally he is a member of the International Sign Association, and the education committee.

In 1982 Shaw graduated from Colorado State University with a BS in Industrial Science Technology Education. Shaw has been a Northern Colorado resident since 1976, living in Boulder, LaPorte and Fort Collins, where he currently resides with his three daughters: Kali, Jeannine and Alayna.

Marv is the Chair for the Chamber’s Ambassador Program. He also received the Chamber’s Ambassador of the Year Award three years in a row, 2006, 2007 and 2008. He also won the 2006 Customer Service Excellence Award.

Marv is an Account Executive directly for Konica Minolta Business Solutions. He has been with Konica Minolta for 7 years. Konica Minolta is the manufacture of a complete line of copier and printer based devices. He has been very successful in the Business Equipment industry for over 18 years in Northern Colorado.

With Marv’s financial background and training he worked as a stockbroker and financial planner from 1983 to 1990.

Prior to moving to Northern Colorado in 1983, Marv was a co-owner of family based businesses in Rockford IL.

Marilyn Stone has served as a member of the Loveland Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors for the past few years and was its treasurer prior to joining the board of directors. She is the majority owner of Porter Industries, Inc., a commercial cleaning company which has served northern Colorado since 1967. The company focuses primarily on safe and healthy cleaning and improving the indoor air quality of businesses and homes. Porter Industries, Inc. was honored as the Loveland Chamber of Commerce’s 2006 Business of the Year and in 2008 was recognized by the Better Business Bureau with their Torch Award for Business Ethics.

Marilyn received her Bachelor of Science degree in Business/MIS from the University of Northern Colorado and her Master of Science degree in Business/CIS from Colorado State University. She and husband/business partner, Bob Stone, are active members of Trinity United Methodist Church in Loveland and enjoy spending time with their son and daughter and their families in Loveland and Steamboat Springs.

Stacy Johnson began working for NCEDC June of 2006 after working as an Economic Developer in the City of Lakewood for four years. Stacy grew up in Loveland and is a graduate of the University of Northern Colorado (UNC) where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism, Public Relations and Advertising Media. She is also a graduate of the Economic Development Institute, University of Oklahoma, International Economic Development Council. Stacy is responsible for all primary research projects, programs and assistance associated with NCEDC’s Business Retention and Expansion efforts which serve the entire county.

In Addition to serving as an ex-officio board member for the Loveland Chamber of Commerce, Stacy currently sits on several other boards and committees including the Rocky Mountain Innovative Initiative (RMI2), Front Range Community College Business Advisory Board, Loveland Business Assistance Network and the Northern Colorado Business Assistance Consortium. Stacy and her husband currently reside in Loveland.

Cathleen McEwen has lived in Loveland since 2000. She has a degree in Finance from Metropolitan State College of Denver, a law degree from the University of Wyoming and is certified in mediation. Cathleen moved to Colorado from Hawaii in 1971 and has been here since, other than four years in Wyoming.

Cathleen has a law practice in downtown Loveland and concentrates in civil litigation, injury law and disability law. Her husband, Jim, is her paralegal and firm administrator. Together, they run the law practice with an emphasis on service, expertise and professionalism.

Cathleen and Jim also play together, enjoying community service and events here in Loveland as well traveling outside of Colorado. They are avid fans of opera, classical music and theater. When they can, Cat and Jim love to get away to the mountains with their two yorkiepoos, Ellie May and Lulubelle.

Mike, Cathleen’s son, is 30 and works as a paralegal in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Her daughter, Laura, 34, is an M.D., Ph.D. in her third year of residency in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Cathleen supports representative, fair, open and transparent government and will advocate for the City with the enthusiasm and support she gives her clients.
