Embassy Suites Loveland

tom.dwyer@jqh.com

Tom Dwyer is the General Manager of the Embassy Suites Hotel, Spa & Conference Center here in Loveland. Originally from Oak Park, Illinois, Tom’s journey has been dedicated to the hospitality industry; that dedication has taken him around the country.

Initially he was a hotel apprentice working his way through the ranks in Cincinnati and Los Angles. Tom took on leadership roles in Florida, the Pacific Northwest, Illinois and Northern California. The first new property he opened was Collins Plaza (now Marriott) in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Next he relocated (as General Manager this time) to open a new hotel in Old Market of Omaha, Nebraska, followed by the Renaissance Hotel (as General Manager once again) in Richardson, Texas.

As the opening General Manager of Loveland's Embassy Suites, the first thing Tom set out to accomplish surrounding himself with the finest hospitality professionals, who share his desire to be the best of the best. Already the hotel is fast approaching its 5th anniversary, and was recognized in early 2014 as the #1 Embassy Suites in the world for 2013.

Tom credits his wife Cindy as being key to his success. “She is the family's anchor on what has been a constantly moving ship of the three children and normally around 8 dogs who make up the Dwyer clan.” They all like the outdoors of Colorado.

Tom is a proud member of Rotary and is the Chair of the Community Marketing Commission of Loveland.

Tom brings a strong understanding of the hospitality industry and acute business sense to the Chamber. He has made sure the Embassy Suites is always available for charitable causes and is proud of the many 501C organizations that call the Embassy their home away from home.

Kohl chairs the ACEC Colorado Energy Committee and serves on the Board of Directors for Alternatives to Violence in Loveland. He is a graduate of both Leadership Loveland and Leadership Northern Colorado.

Thanks to his blue collar background with jobs such as owner/operator truck driver and beef-lugger in packing houses, a 25-year career with a progressive and innovative civil engineering design firm, extensive community and non-profit involvement and a genuine desire to make his community an amazing place to live, Kohl brings an uncommonly broad perspective to his service on the Loveland Chamber of Commerce board.

Originally from Omaha, NE, Kohl's love of the high country, hunting, fishing and hiking made it easy for him to relocate to Loveland in 2007. He and his wife Rhonda are empty nesters; their son Adam still lives in Omaha. Kohl enjoys the Rockies and Broncos, taking in games whenever the opportunity presents itself. They live on 2.5 acres and taking care of the place keeps Kohl busy most of the time. This coming summer he'll have the chance to check something off his bucket list with a backcountry trip to Alaska.
