
2010 Miss Loveland Valentine Announced
Loveland High School senior Hillary Skeffington recognized as 49th Miss Loveland Valentine
LOVELAND, Colo. - Nov. 13, 2009 - On Thursday, Nov. 12, the Loveland Chamber of Commerce, along with its panel of five judges, selected Hillary Skeffington, a Loveland High School senior, as the 2010 Miss Loveland Valentine. Skeffington is the 49th Miss Loveland Valentine.
Skeffington was one of ten Loveland High School girls up for the prestigious title. Through a powerful essay, on-point interview and motivational “Loveland My Community” speech to attendees of Thursday’s luncheon, hosted by Thompson Valley Rotary, Skeffington walked away with the Miss Loveland Valentine title, sash and bouquet, courtesy of Rowe’s Flowers & Gifts.
“I’m really excited. I’m honored,” said Skeffington. “This was always a possibility in the back of my mind, but I never thought it would actually happen.” Loveland Valentine.
Miss Valentine is Loveland’s spokesperson, as she makes many presentations throughout the community including television, newspaper and radio interviews. Over the years, the title of Miss Loveland Valentine has been held with honor and pride as this young woman spends the next year representing our community. As the selected candidate, Skeffington will receive scholarship funds toward her college education awarded from Ted and Mabel Thompson’s Trust.
For 48 years Miss Valentine has met the governor presenting him with a special gift from Loveland and an Official Loveland Valentine card. She has made a formal presentation to the Senate for the past 47 years. On occasion, she has also met with the Lieutenant Governor and the treasurer. Today, she is introduced, and the representative for District 51 talks about the Loveland Valentine program.
Skeffington will be accompanied by the official Miss Valentine chaperones, Norma Jean and Chet Goodheart, who for 17 years have accompanied Miss Loveland Valentine to all of her engagements.
